What is Aromat Seasoning?
Aromat seasoning is a blend of spices and herbs. It is a combination of ingredients that are balanced properly to give almost meal an enticing aroma and flavor. It is a very versatile seasoning that can work for almost every meal. What’s more, you can choose to add it to food when cooking or as a condiment on the table.
Does the Aromat powder contain MSG? One major concern you might have is the availability of MSG in the ingredients. The seasoning features a range of ingredients including maize flour, salt, yeast extract, anticaking agent, flavourants, and many more. But one of the main ingredients is Monosodium Glutamate (MSG).
MSG is a Glutamic acid – a sodium salt of glutamic acid. Even though it is approved by FDA, most people still choose to remove it from their diets for certain reasons.
If you want an Aromat powder substitute, there are certain options for you. Most of these are things you will easily find or create in your kitchen. Let’s take a look.
Aromat Seasoning Substitute
1. Soy Sauce
This is among the best substitutes for Aromat seasoning. Soy sauce is rich in umami. You can choose to add it to soups, casseroles, and stir-fries. It will give your food that amazing salty flavor. What’s more, it is very easy to find in stores all over.
You can also choose to use other variations such as fish or oyster sauce. However, you have to be careful because when this Aromat substitute is used excessively, it will over-salt your meal.
2. Beef Stock
Beef stock is easy to make at home. You can make broth or beef stock simply by slow cooking some aromatics and beef bones. This stock has an amazing effect on food. It increases the umami and closely mimics the effects of MSG in your food. They both have high glutamate levels.
If you do not have the time to make some at home, you can choose to purchase some bouillon cubes or beef stock cubes that you can add to water for a quick solution.
3. Parmesan Cheese
This is an Italian cheese that has natural MSG. This is a result of fermentation, which causes amino acids to be released as the cheese’s proteins break down. The natural MSG gives meals an amazing flavor. You can use it in risotto, pizza, pasta, and many more dishes. Unfortunately, it does not work well for Sian dishes or stir fry.
4. Yeast Extract
You will commonly find yeast extract used in bread or beef to produce that amazing flavor. You can purchase it in the form of powder from different suppliers, especially home-brewing suppliers.
It is also possible to find it in supermarkets. In case you do not find some, you can try using vegemite or marmite in its place. These two also contain glutamic acid and will work well.
Aromat seasoning is very effective in giving your food that extra flavor and aroma to please everyone. If you do not have any, or simply want a replacement for the MSG, you can choose to use any of the above Aromat substitutes to boost your food’s flavor.
